Back to EpisodesShelly's Shares: Infertility Awareness And Hope
Description
Some wellness topics are easy to post about. Infertility is not one of them, and that’s exactly why we’re talking about it.
We’re coming off National Infertility Awareness Week, and I wanted to slow down and make space for anyone who has struggled to conceive, to carry a pregnancy, or to become a parent in the way you hoped. I share a few fertility statistics that put the struggle in perspective, including how common infertility can be and why it is not always “one person’s issue”. We also talk through the basic timelines many clinicians use to recommend fertility testing, especially the shift that happens when you’re trying to conceive after 35, because waiting can add months to an already exhausting process.
I also share parts of my own story: getting medical help to build our family, the heartbreak of repeated miscarriages, and the moment I realized I didn’t want to live with the regret of not using every resource available to us. We touch on emotional health, faith, and the very real relief that can come from having a plan, even when outcomes are uncertain. Most of all, I want you to hear this clearly: needing fertility treatment is nothing to feel guilty about, and you deserve compassion in this season.
