Description

Welcome to Chronicles of Old Singapore. Physician Wong San Yong remembers how renovating the house and farming the land was done by hand. In the 1970s, his family was evicted from Potong Pasir to a HDB flat in Toa Payoh Lorong 2. He and his siblings – all Chinese-educated – began to work and make a living. He became a TCM physician in Mei Ling Street, which he continues to do today as well as to teach qigong. Growing up poor, he says, has its advantages.
