Description
Do Christians have to keep the Sabbath? Romans 14 and Colossians 2:16: "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of... the sabbath days."
A Straight Bible study, hosted by Matt Hepner and TopLobsta.

Was Jesus a wino? The Pharisees called Him "a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners" (Matthew 11:19). Jesus ate with publicans and sinners at Levi's house: "They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick" (Mark 2:17; Luke 5:27-32; Matthew 9:9-13), and "I desired mercy, and not sacrifice" (Hosea 6:6). "The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath" (Mark 2:27), and circumcision was done on the Sabbath (John 7:22-23). When He sent the seventy, He said "eat such things as are set before you" (Luke 10:8).

Romans 14 is the main passage. "Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations." On days: "One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind" (14:5). "The kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost" (14:17), and "It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine" if it makes a brother stumble (14:21).

Also covered: "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient" (1 Corinthians 6:12), "commanding to abstain from meats" (1 Timothy 4:1-5), Colossians 2:16-17, the Sabbath days as "a shadow of things to come," Calvin on Hebrews 4, Galatians 3 and the promise to Abraham 430 years before the law, and every man's work tried by fire (1 Corinthians 3).
