Description
When We Almost Ask for Help
Sometimes we get close
to asking for help—
and then decide not to.
“In you, O LORD, I seek refuge;
do not let me ever be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me.” (Psalm 31:1)
Sometimes we hesitate
to say what we really need—
as if naming it
might expose too much.
There is no shame
in seeking help,
no dishonor in admitting our vulnerability.
These words are attributed to David—
musician, shepherd, warrior, king.
He knew both honor and shame,
success and failure.
And through it all,
he remained honest—
honest about where he was,
and what he needed.
Trusting
there was One who would receive him—
and lead him forward.
This psalm invites us
to live with that same honesty,
and that same trust.
