Description
Genoa Western Heritage Days: A Free, Family-Friendly Celebration of Cowboy Culture
Join the fun this weekend, April twenty-fourth through twenty-sixth, as Nevadas oldest settlement, Genoa, hosts its annual Western Heritage Days. This free event on Saturday features live music, kids activities, historic reenactments, Western art, and a grand horse parade.
Kick off your day at the fine art show, running from ten a.m. to four p.m., with exhibits at three locations. Shop for unique Western gear near Town Hall. Pioneers from Truckee Meadows will demonstrate their skills throughout the day.
Dont miss the Civil War camp reenactment at Mormon Station State Historic Park. Free entry to the Courthouse Museum offers a glimpse into Genoas pioneer history. Families will enjoy the cowboy poetry, Basque tales, and Chautauqua actors bringing legends like Snowshoe Thompson to life from eleven a.m. to four thirty p.m.
Musical acts like Carson Chandler, Lost Reverends of the High Sierra, and Those Windburn Brothers, along with poets Larry Maurice and Tony Argento, will entertain throughout the day. The highlight? Over eighty horses parading down Main Street at two p.m. Note that Jacks Valley Road will close from one thirty to three p.m. with no detours.
For more details, visit their Facebook page or check the road closure link. Lace up your boots and experience authentic Western vibes before the event concludes on Sunday.
