Back to Episodes'No change in our position' - Resources Minister on proposed gas tax
Published 2 weeks, 3 days ago
Description
The prime minister is poised to kill off a move to increase taxes on gas giants, echoing the industry's argument that exporters are already paying tens of billions of dollars in taxes each year.
The ABC has spoken to several senior sources who say they do not believe a new gas tax was being "seriously considered" and that, three weeks out from budget, no such plan had been brought to cabinet.
Today is the the final day of public hearings for the Greens-led Senate inquiry into Australia's gas tax regime.
