Description
Rebekah interviews Sarah Haire from Lisburn, who travelled to Rwanda with a mission group and served alongside the Servants of Mary of the Heart of Jesus — a small community of sisters working with the poorest communities in a remote, mountainous part of the country. Sarah describes what she saw: villages reached only by dirt tracks, families without furniture, a man without legs whose face lit up at a handshake, a little girl who gradually began to smile as her stomach filled with food.
The sisters run a school, feed children two meals a day, visit the sick, and, Sarah was told, would likely have had to close their projects without these annual mission groups. To support their work, Sarah is organising a fundraising ball at the Ballymac Hotel, Lisburn, on Saturday 13th June — a four-course dinner with live music and a presentation about the sisters’ work. Read more about the trips and buy tickets for the ball here. £65 per person.
