NDIS reforms target bureaucracy over service cuts

NDIS reforms target bureaucracy over service cuts

Published 13 hours ago
Description
Federal Health Minister Mark Butler is expected to announce major reforms to the NDIS at the National Press Club. Cain Beckett, CEO of Carers ACT and one of the original architects of the NDIS, argues that significant savings can be achieved by reducing administrative overhead and reforming the supported independent living scheme, which accounts for nearly one-third of NDIS spending despite serving only six percent of participants. He contends that cutting bureaucracy rather than services would address budget concerns while ensuring people with disabilities continue to receive essential care.
