When What’s Happening Doesn’t Change—But We Do
Sometimes something happens—
and we can feel ourselves starting to react
in ways we don’t want.
“While they were stoning Stephen, he prayed,
‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’” (from Acts 7:59)
His circumstances didn’t change.
He was still facing violence.
Still surrounded by anger.
But his circumstances did not determine
who he became within them.
Fear did not take him.
Anger did not define him.
Bitterness did not become him.
What was happening around him
did not dictate
how he would respond.
Even there—
he trusted God.
Sometimes what we are in
does not change.
But something in us does.
And in that—
we are not defined by what we are facing,
but transformed within it.
