Country music often tells stories about home, identity and staying true to yourself… which makes Owen Morton a perfect fit for the genre. 

In the latest episode of The MarshyCast, I sat down with the Liverpudlian artist to talk about a journey that’s taken him from tough early gigs in local venues to performing at festivals around the UK… and even across the Atlantic. 

Like many artists, Owen’s beginnings weren’t always glamorous. He spoke honestly about singing cover songs in rooms where audiences weren’t particularly interested. In one memorable moment, he was even cheered off… simply for finishing. 

But rather than denting his ambition, those experiences helped shape it. 

Today, Owen is building a name on the UK country scene, with performances at festivals nationwide. He’s also already been to Nashville, the spiritual home of country music, and is preparing to head to Rhode Island for more shows. 

What stood out most in our conversation, though, was his commitment to authenticity. Owen isn’t trying to sound like anyone else. He’s proud of his Liverpool roots, keeps his natural accent, and sings the songs he wants to sing in the style he genuinely loves. 

In a world where artists can sometimes feel pressured to fit a mould, that honesty feels refreshing… and perhaps it’s exactly why audiences are connecting with him.
