Deadly mushroom warning as autumn arrives
Published 2 days, 20 hours ago
Description
Health authorities are warning of an increase in deadly mushrooms, particularly death cap mushrooms, growing in Victoria, South Australia and Canberra during autumn's cold and wet conditions. Death caps, which often grow near oak trees in parks and backyards, can be fatal if consumed by humans or pets. The Victorian Poisons Information Centre received over 400 calls relating to mushroom exposure last year, with half involving children under five.
