Barry Cable acquitted of historic child sex charges
Published 2 days, 10 hours ago
Description
Barry Cable, an 82-year-old former footballer, has been acquitted of seven historic child sex offence charges dating back 60 years. The judge stated he believed the complainant was probably telling the truth but could not be certain beyond reasonable doubt, the required standard for criminal conviction. Cable previously lost a 2023 civil trial where another woman accused him of abuse, resulting in an $800,000 compensation order and the stripping of his Hall of Fame honours.
