Sylvia Broderick, 88, has run Sylvia's Fabrics in Moree, northern New South Wales, for 50 years and remains an active member of her community. Her granddaughters created social media accounts for the fabric shop to boost business, unexpectedly turning Sylvia into an internet sensation with thousands of fans calling her the internet's favourite grandma. Beyond the shop, Sylvia participates in two choirs, the View Club supporting disadvantaged children through the Smith family, and previously line danced for 33 years.
