#1 MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE TO BE USED BY GOD

Philip responded when God directed him to the Ethiopian official. God often uses believers who are simply willing to be available, listen to His direction, and obey when an opportunity appears. (Acts 8:26-29; Isaiah 6:8; Proverbs 3:5-6)

#2 START WITH WHERE PEOPLE ARE

Philip listened before he taught. Effective discipleship begins by understanding where a person is spiritually, answering the questions they are actually asking, and helping them take their next step toward Christ. (Acts 8:30-35; 1 Corinthians 9:22)

#3 POINT PEOPLE TO JESUS THROUGH SCRIPTURE

Philip explained the good news about Jesus directly from God’s Word. Scripture remains the foundation for leading people to salvation and helping them grow as followers of Christ. (Acts 8:32-35; Luke 24:27; Romans 10:17)

#4 HELP PEOPLE TAKE THEIR NEXT STEP OF OBEDIENCE

Discipleship is more than learning information. It means helping people obey Christ through baptism, spiritual disciplines, service, and faithful daily living. Jesus calls us to make disciples who learn to obey everything He commanded. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 8:36-38; James 1:22)

#5 TRUST GOD TO DO WHAT YOU CANNOT DO

We faithfully plant and water the seed, but only God can produce spiritual growth. As we pray for people, share Scripture, and invest in their lives, we can trust Him to accomplish the work we cannot. (1 Corinthians 3:6-7)

Look for someone God has placed in your life whom you can encourage in their faith. Point them to Jesus through Scripture, help them take their next step of obedience, and trust God to produce lasting spiritual growth.
