Catechesis – The Experience of the Resurrection – Fr Adrian Crowley

Published 3 weeks, 4 days ago
Description

Fr. Adrian Crowley opens with a vivid contemplative retelling of the resurrection: the pre-dawn glory at the empty tomb, Mary Magdalene walking through Jerusalem in grief, her meeting with the risen Jesus and the single word “Mary,” then Peter and John running breathless to the cemetery. He reflects on the joy that spread through the disciples, pausing to consider the world full of doubts and spiritual blindness that St. Thomas represents, a Thomas whom Fr. Adrian recognises from his own past atheism.

The encounter between Thomas and the risen Christ, fingertip touching the wounds, is given extended treatment as an extraordinary moment of shattered disbelief and total transformation. Fr. Adrian closes with a prayer of recommitment, “Lord, open our lips to evangelise, our hearts to love those crushed under heavy crosses”, and an invitation to enter fully into the joy of the Easter season stretching through Ascension to Pentecost, with a special mention of the Divine Mercy Sunday celebrations at Marino Church.
