Description

I have so many fond memories of growing up during the golden age of the must-see sitcoms that dictated nightly schedules. Hearing their iconic themes still tugs at my heartstrings, making me wish I could transport myself back in time. As much as I loved watching my favorite shows, they gave me a false perception of life, wrapped in perfectly managed 30 minutes that always neatly concluded 99% of the time. Looking back with learned but jaded eyes, I can see how much influence I allowed scripted television shows, meant for entertainment purposes, to shape my ideas about how life should be, to my detriment. I still find myself subconsciously using the same unrealistic playbook as the benchmark for my life. Sitcoms may be different today, but regardless of era, they still have the same ability to lead us astray. The truth is, real life cannot be lived using sitcom illusions. How has your approach to life been shaped by what you watch? Let’s talk about it.
