Do you know that,
We are in the midst of a global crisis that most of us are not even aware of? Maybe because… It’s not in our faces, in the news, or on the internet every single day, but it’s real and it’s out there, just like the proverbial “Elephant in the Room”. It’s larger than life. It’s staring at us all right in our faces, and it’s not going away anytime soon. And it can strike anyone of us at any time…We are talking about Alzheimer’s disease. The fact is that it has become a serious global crisis and is expected to worsen if a treatment or cure is not found. For 30 years, Lisa Skinner has been working to turn this quiet crisis into a rallying call for action. She is not a distant expert. She is a caregiver, a witness, and a translator between families and the systems that serve them. Her mission is to connect with audiences in a way that moves hearts and sparks real, practical action.
- The problem is staggering and growing. By 2025, the number of people expected to develop dementia worldwide will triple from today. That means more families will be facing uncertainty, fear, and impossible decisions with limited guidance.
- What motivates Lisa are the faces of families she has walked beside for three decades; a parent who forgets their adult child’s name; a caregiver burning out from exhaustive, endless shifts; a family planning for futures when the present feels overwhelming.
- Lisa’s work is the convergence of compassion and clarity, translating complex medical realities into actionable steps for families, workplaces, and communities. She has learned what families need most trustworthy information, practical planning tools, and a champion who will stand with them when the system doesn’t.
