Massive new defence spending prepares Australia for short-term threats

The federal government announced it will invest an extra 53 billion dollars over the next decade.

This includes a 14 billion dollar lift in spending over the next four years.

Defence Minister Richard Marles launched the 2026 National Defence Strategy yesterday, warning Australia faces "its most complex and threatening strategic circumstances since the end of World War II."
