NSW nurses win 16% pay rise after industrial campaign
Published 1 week ago
Description
Around 50,000 registered nurses and midwives in New South Wales have been awarded a 16% pay rise over three years by the independent Industrial Relations Commissioner, including a 10% one-off reset backdated to 1 July 2025. The Nurses and Midwives Association had sought a 35% pay increase and a doubling of sick leave, both of which were rejected. The pay deal, which will cost billions of dollars, expires shortly after the state election in 12 months, placing public sector wages at the centre of the political debate.
