MID WEEK MOTIVATION - April 15, 2026 (Grant Stegall)

Published 5 months, 3 weeks ago
Description

Tax Day lands on a big week at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church, and we start with news our church family will care about right away: we’re bringing Hunter Smith forward as our next minister of students. We talk through who Hunter is, what weekend opportunities you have to meet him, and what to expect as he preaches in both services followed by a vote at the end of each service. If you’re a parent, student, volunteer, or just someone who cares about the next generation, you’ll want these details.

Then we run the calendar because the next few weeks are full: children’s choirs in worship, the final spring Wednesday night class, the reset week with no activities, and the launch of the summer Wednesday schedule. We also spotlight the DeSoto Hills Grand Prix with key prep dates like the work day and test track day, plus a look ahead to graduate recognition Sunday, Mother’s Day, and upcoming church gatherings.

For the Midweek Moment, we shift into a Bible teaching on the Mosaic covenant from Exodus 19 through 24. We explain the covenant ceremony at Sinai, why the Ten Commandments matter, and the promises God attaches to obedience: treasured possession, royal priesthood, and holy nation. From there we connect the dots to Galatians 3 and 1 Peter 2 to show how Jesus fulfills the law, provides once-for-all atonement, and gives believers a new identity rooted in grace. We also get honest about the Israelites’ short memory after miracles and how our own faith can drift just as quickly when life gets hard.

Subscribe for weekly encouragement, share this with a friend, and leave a review. What’s one “Red Sea moment” you still struggle to remember when trouble hits?
