April 7 to April 13, Virginia Beach Police Department reported the following incidents.
On April 11 at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers responded to gunfire and a ShotSpotter activation along Atlantic Avenue at the Oceanfront. Two unrelated groups of young adults and juveniles allegedly exchanged gunfire after an altercation, injuring eight individuals with non-life-threatening to serious wounds; all are expected to survive. VBPD virginiabeach.gov reports arrests of Jamaya Williams, charged with seven counts of aggravated assault, seven counts of use of a firearm in a felony, seven counts of reckless handling of a firearm with injury, and three violations of a protective order; and Isaiah Charity on April 13, charged with eight counts each of aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm with injury. VBPD is seeking Suspect 3, an unidentified Black male in a dark-colored hoodie with possible red lettering on the back. Jahmari Savage was arrested nearby for possession of a concealed firearm but is not linked to the shooting. Investigation ongoing.
On April 11 in the 2000 block of Lynnhaven Parkway near Nova Adventure Park, a large group of teens allegedly fought, with at least one person hurt. Officers dispersed the crowd. WTKR reports the incident under investigation.
