Early flu season prompts urgent vaccination call
Published 1 week, 2 days ago
Description
Flu season has started early in Australia with more than 25,000 cases recorded since January and reports of over 100 flu-associated deaths in January alone. The emergence of sub-clade K influenza, known as 'super K', contributed to high case numbers and deaths last year, prompting updates to this year's flu vaccine. Health experts recommend getting vaccinated now, as the vaccine provides protection for four to six months and will cover both current cases and the expected late winter peak.
