Description
Do you hear that? That slow, rhythmic creak — is it a wheelchair finding its way down an empty corridor, or a gurney that’s been still for decades? Tonight, we're walking into two abandoned hospitals where the past refuses to stay quiet. First, we visit Aradale Lunatic Asylum in Victoria, Australia, where the case of one patient was so extraordinary that the state passed legislation specifically to confine him to its grounds. It seems even death couldn't change that. Then we cross the Pacific and the country to Pennhurst State School and Hospital in Pennsylvania — once called The Shame of Pennsylvania — where a 1968 exposé revealed conditions so disturbing that the public outcry eventually forced its closure. The suffering of the vulnerable leaves a mark. Pennhurst hasn't forgotten, and neither have we. Some places don't let go of their history. Come find out why.
