The US delegation has left Pakistan after Vice President JD Vance failed to reach an agreement during lengthy talks in Islamabad to try to end the war with Iran.
Mr Vance says his team and the Iranian delegation met for 21 hours, but that Iran's nuclear ambitions remain a key impediment to a peace deal.
Reaction is emerging from Iran, after its foreign ministry called on the US to refrain from "excessive demands" and "unreasonable requests".
Meanwhile the mediator, Pakistan, is asking both sides to continue to observe the current two-week ceasefire, despite the failure of the talks.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong says it's a disappointing outcome.
Artemis II astronauts have received a hero's welcome at NASA's Houston base after returning from a record-setting deep-space mission.
