A Prayer for When We Can’t Quite See What’s Happening

Loving God,

There are moments

when we’re in the middle of something

and can’t quite see it yet.

We don’t fully understand what’s happening,

and we’re not always sure what to do next.

In those moments,

help us not to close ourselves off.

Help us remain open—

to one another,

to the moment,

and to your presence with us.

Help us stay in conversation.

When we are tempted to become defensive

or withdraw,

keep us open and engaged.

Help us trust

that understanding will come in time.

And until it does,

help us remain—

open, inviting,

and present to what is unfolding, until understanding comes.

Amen.
