Many people know facts about Jesus, but fewer truly follow Him. In this message from Luke 24 and Matthew 28, Pastor Chris Teien explains what it means to become a genuine disciple whose life is transformed through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Following Jesus is more than gaining biblical knowledge or practicing religious habits. As we recognize who Jesus truly is, allow God’s Word to shape our understanding, walk with Christ daily, and faithfully share Him with others, we grow into the disciples He has called us to be.

IN THIS MESSAGE

#1 RECOGNIZE WHEN YOU ARE MISSING JESUS

The disciples on the road to Emmaus walked with Jesus without recognizing Him. In the same way, it is possible to know information about Jesus without personally knowing and following Him. Genuine discipleship begins with trusting Christ rather than relying on religious knowledge or activity. (Luke 24:13-24; Matthew 7:21)

#2 LET GOD’S WORD SHAPE YOUR UNDERSTANDING

Jesus explained the Scriptures and revealed how God’s plan pointed to Him. Lasting spiritual growth comes as we build our lives on biblical truth rather than personal opinions, feelings, or cultural ideas. (Luke 24:25-27; John 5:39; Hebrews 4:12)

#3 MOVE TOWARD A REAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS

Jesus invites us into a relationship marked by repentance, trust, obedience, prayer, and fellowship. Discipleship is more than learning information about Christ. It is walking closely with Him each day. (Luke 24:28-32; Matthew 6:33; Acts 3:19)

#4 EXPECT YOUR LIFE TO BE TRANSFORMED

When we truly encounter Jesus, our priorities, attitudes, desires, and direction begin to change. God transforms us from the inside out as we renew our minds and continue growing in our relationship with Him. (Luke 24:31-35; Romans 12:2)

#5 SHARE WHAT JESUS HAS DONE IN YOUR LIFE

Real faith does not remain private. Every believer has opportunities to tell others what Christ has done and invite them to trust and follow Him. Jesus calls His followers to make disciples who will also help others follow Him. (Matthew 28:19-20; John 9:25; Acts 4:20)

Do not settle for simply knowing about Jesus. Trust Him personally, walk with Him daily, allow His Word to transform your life, and faithfully point others to the Savior.
