Three Russian Akula class submarines were detected conducting a covert operation near critical undersea cables and pipelines in the North Atlantic. British forces, supported by RAF P-8 Poseidon aircraft, warships, and Norwegian naval assets, tracked and deterred the vessels using special sonar buoys before any damage occurred. UK Defence Secretary John Healey warned Moscow that any attempts to damage undersea infrastructure will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences.
