2025 Florida battery fires: 212
Most common reported fire causes: scooter/hoverboard, golf cart, electric vehicles, battery backup device
What has lithium batteries: drones, tools, laptops, portable air conditioners, holiday decorations
Charging Tips: always charge secured on a flat dry surface, keep away from direct sunlight, 36” clear space (no flammables or furniture nearby), don’t leave unattended overnight/while away
Warning Signs: Watch for swelling or bulging of battery (disconnect and dispose of), hissing cracking or popping sounds (imminent threat)
Don’t throw in trash – bring to HAZMOBILE or Hazardous Waste Collection Facility

Tire Round Up – Mosquito Control:
 • Open to Martin County residents
• Limit of ten (10) passenger vehicle tires per household
• Commercial and tractor tires will not be accepted
• No appointment necessary. Staff will be on-site to assist
