500-Acre Burn Planned in Coconino Forest
Description
The Coconino National Forest plans to conduct a prescribed fire project in the Stoneman Lake area later this week due to recent favorable weather conditions. Should weather conditions remain favorable, the following project is planned to begin Thursday: Upper Beaver Creek Purpose: To reduce the risk of stand-replacing wildfire and create a more resilient forest. This project will protect people, private property and natural resource values by reintroducing fire into a fire-adapted ecosystem.
