Patient critical after hammer attack at RPA Hospital

A 63-year-old man is in critical condition on life support after allegedly being repeatedly beaten over the head with a hammer while in his hospital bed at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney just after midnight. A woman, believed to be his niece, allegedly bypassed security to access his ward and carry out the attack. She was arrested at the scene and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
