Segment 1: Polly
Last week I had the great pleasure of attending the theater organ concert at The Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar. The artist was Martin Ellis, and one of the songs he played at the concert at San Sylmar was his own arrangement for theater organ of a “finger buster” titled “Polly”. Given the parameters of the show, I can’t play Martin’s recording of “Polly”, but I do have a few other Polly’s to play.

At Ian Whitcomb’s Monday evening salon one of the group brought a number of pieces of vintage sheet music to show, one of which was a song called “Roll ‘em, Girls”. Those unfamiliar with the song, guessed that it had to do with rolling cigarettes, until they read the lyrics – and now you get to find out what it’s about (and a few other Rolling songs)
