Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Continuing our live show from right here in the KISL studio in the greenhouse in Avalon Park. For the last hour we’re going to celebrate a birthday, play some records for no particular reason whatsoever, and just gonna go wild. And who knows what else may happen.

Enjoy the show!

Here’s the complete playlist:

Segment 1: Fats Waller
May 21 marked the birth in 1904 in Waverly, New York of Thomas Wright Waller, better known as “Fats”. My interest in vintage music began more than 30 years ago when I first heard Dr. Demento play Fat’s “Handful of Keys” on his show, and I play Fats’ recordings quite often on the show, but here are some of Fats’ lesser known compositions played by others.

Georgia Bo Bo – Jelly James and His Fewsicians
Great Scott – The Troy Harmonists
Squeeze Me – William “Buster” Bailey
The Panic Is On – Mezz Mezzrow and His Swing Band

Segment 2: Fats Plays
Well there you had some obscure Waller compositions by some obscure bands, so for this segment, we’ll have some more familiar records by Fats Waller, beginning with the record which sparked my interest in vintage music.

Handful of Keys – Fats Waller
Your Feets Too Big – Fats Waller and His Rhythm / Fats Waller, v.
I’m Crazy Bout My Baby – Fats Waller and His Rhythm / Fats Waller, v.
The Joint Is Jumpin’ – Fats Waller and His Rhythm / Fats Waller, v.

Segment 3: Very Simply
For no particular reason whatsoever, things get pretty simple

Your Simply Delish – Jack Teagarden AHO / Eddie Gale, v.
Sweet and Simple – Dorsey Bros Orchestra / George Beuchler, v.
The Simple Things In Life – Don Bestor AHO / Neil Buckley, v.
They Go Wild, Simply Wild Over Me – Marion Harris

Segment 4: Go Wild
For this final segment of the show, we’re gonna go simply wild,

I’m Just Wild About Animal Crackers – Harry Reser’s Six Jumping Jacks
Where The Wild Wild Flowers Grow – Roger Wolfe Kahn AHO
Wildflower – Raymond Dance Band (Stan Greening) / Stan Greening
Wild And Foolish – The Red Heads

Segment 5: All That’s Left
With time for just one more

All The Shoes We Have Left Are All Right” – The Broadway Merrymakers (Fred “Sugar” Hall) / Arthur Fields, v.
