My fast trip started with a sweet treat at the famous Chocolateria San Gines. I watched Nina do a fun dip with crunchy churros and hot chocolate. Then, I walked to Plaza Mayor and grabbed amazing food at Mercado de San Miguel. Nina tried many different tapas. I saw her eat herring with avocado, fried calamari, and even anchovies. I think the anchovies are gross, but I watched her eat them anyway. I also visited the beautiful Cathedral de Santa Maria and looked at the Royal Palace of Madrid before a long night out. ✎ The next day, I felt very tired because I stayed up too late, but I kept walking to find more fun things to do in Madrid. I visited the cool art rooms at Ikono and walked down Calle de las Letras. Next, I looked at the huge green plant wall at Jardin Vertical at CaixaForum. After a lot of walking, I rested at El Retiro Park and drank a tasty cappuccino. Then, I saw the Puerta de Alcala and ate the best Dulce de Leche ice cream at Gelateria La Dolce. I ended my walk looking at shops in the Salamanca district, where I thought about buying a fedora hat. ✎ My short trip to Madrid ended early because my allergies got really bad. I had to stay in bed at the hotel to rest and get my energy back. Even with a short trip, I loved the Spanish food and fun sights. It just means I need to come back to this great city again soon to spend more time here. Now, I am done with my airport check-in and ready to fly.
