Thistlethwaite says federal government seeking fuel supplies overseas

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has spoken with China's Premier - Li Qiang, agreeing to increase communication "in support of regional energy security".

The Prime Minister will travel to Singapore tomorrow on a mission to secure future essential supplies like fuel, while Defence Minister Richard Marles has landed in Japan to meet with his counterpart.

It comes as the conflict in the middle east shows no end in sight.
