Just recently, a monumental decision was made regarding funding for what is now considered the most powerful supercomputer created to date—El Capitan, located at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. As of June 2025, El Capitan reached an astonishing 1.742 exaFLOPS according to LINPACK benchmarks, which is a fancy way of saying it can perform incredible computations at lightning speed.
