Description
Donal O’Sullivan-Latchford and Fr. Eamonn McCarthy open this Holy Week edition with prayers for Kermit Gosnell and a younger media figure who did much harm before his recent death. They then play and discuss a viral clip from American comedian Vince Vaughn in which he explains why late-night chat shows have collapsed in ratings by turning themselves into one-sided ideological lectures, and why podcasts have surged because people want authenticity.
They move on to a grave euthanasia case in Spain in which a traumatised 25-year-old was killed, which the Spanish bishops have called a collective failure, touching also on Canada’s expanding MAID regime. Other items include Colm Flynn’s footage of Belgian broadcasters vandalising religious statues, the Finnish parliamentarian convicted for quoting the Bible, Mairead McGuinness’s appointment as EU special envoy on religious freedom, and an encouraging interview on a Cork radio station between a chat show host and Bishop Fintan Gavin on the uptick of faith among young people. The episode ends with a preview of the BBC Holy Thursday documentary Harry Clark Goes to Rome.
