Praying the Prodigals Home – Forgiveness: From the Passion to the Troubles – Paul and Marian McAree

Published 1 month ago
Description

Paul McAree opens with a rich meditation on forgiveness as the heart of the Christian life, weaving together the story of two brothers reconciled at a hospice deathbed through his mother’s intervention, the witness of Gordon Wilson and his Protestant counterpart as peacemakers after their children were killed in the Troubles, and the story of a woman who found supernatural grace to forgive her husband who murdered their three children.

Paul draws on Isaiah’s Servant Songs to show how Christ takes our inability to forgive and gives us back his peace, and how the good thief, the only person in the entire Passion to address Jesus by name, becomes the first saint into heaven. He then leads the fourth full holy hour of the Eucharistic Divine Mercy in Scripture, with Marian, praying for the prodigals in each listener’s life.
