Commercial broadcasters call for support in wake of gambling ad crackdown

Published 1 month ago
Description

Major television broadcasters are calling for Australia's broadcasting tax to be abandoned in the wake of gambling advertising restrictions announced by the Albanese government last week.

The new restrictions include capping the number of TV ads from betting agencies to a maximum of three per hour between 6am and 8.30pm. Commercial broadcasters say that could lead to revenue losses of around $90 million.

  • Guest: Bridget Fair, Chief Executive of Free TV Australia
  • Producer: Grace Stranger
