Sam Altman sat down with Axios today and did what he always does. Fed everyone silk meringue. Smooth. Sweet. Nothing you can hold onto. He talked about superintelligence like it is already here, acknowledged it could be "horrible," and then walked the room back to optimism before anyone could ask a follow-up. THE MACHINE. Altman compared superintelligence to a tool, but this tool is not a hammer sitting in a drawer. It is a hammer that opens the drawer and walks around the room.
