Sl: Sredi cvetoče pomladi, na močno utrjenem grajskem trgu, je vrvelo od dejavnosti.
En: In the midst of blooming spring, in the strongly fortified castle square, there was a bustle of activity.
Sl: Tam se je Matej s svojim prijateljem Luko izogibal naglici množice.
En: There, Matej and his friend Luka avoided the rush of the crowd.
Sl: Njegove oči so sijale z navdušenjem, saj je bil odločilni trenutek.
En: His eyes were shining with excitement, for it was the decisive moment.
Sl: V tednu pred veliko nočjo so se plemiči pripravljali na slavnostno pojedino, in Matej je želel impresionirati z redkimi začimbami.
En: In the week before Easter, the nobles were preparing for a festive feast, and Matej wanted to impress with rare spices.

Sl: Ob stojnici kresničarjev je stala Jana, znana po svojem znanju in skromnem, a odločnem vedenju.
En: Near the lantern bearer's stall stood Jana, known for her knowledge and modest yet determined demeanor.
Sl: Bila je predmet govoric; vsak je vedel, da skriva nekaj.

Sl: "Pozdravljen, Matej," je odgovorila z medenim glasom.
En: "Hello, Matej," she replied in a honeyed voice.
Sl: "Imaš cel svet pred sabo, ampak redkosti... te niso poceni."
En: "You have the whole world before you, but rarities... they don't come cheap."
Sl: "Razumem," je rekel Matej in udaril po svoji volji.
En: "I understand," said Matej with determination.
Sl: "Pripravljen sem tvegati. Ponujam ti celotno zalogo svojih dobrin, če mi prodaš najboljše, kar imaš."
En: "I'm ready to take the risk. I offer you my entire supply of goods if you sell me the best you have."
Sl: Nad trg je legla tišina.
