15 long years are over! The Buffalo Sabres are headed back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2011! What ended up being an incredible and emotional day for Sabres fans everywhere was a long time coming, as the Rangers win over the Red Wings made it official. The Sabres came from the bottom of the standings to give their fans this day, which will be remembered forever. The day of celebrating did not carry over into the game on Saturday night in Washington DC, as the Sabres were walloped by the Washington Capitals. A look at losing five of their last seven shouldn't bring cause for concern once the Sabres get to the playoffs, but the stretch will not come without consequences. The Sabres are now staring at a first round series against a very tough opponent, in either Montreal or maybe Tampa Bay. The Sabres have a monster matchup in front of them now with Tampa on Monday.

What went wrong in the loss to the Capitals? It started early and it started in the Sabres defensive zone. Tage Thompson and Bowen Byram were two of many that made critical mistakes.
