Description
Good morning, this is your Sunday surf zone forecast for Southern California, brought to you by the National Weather Service in Los Angeles and Oxnard.

Let's start down south along the Santa Barbara County coasts, where conditions are looking mellow today. The southwestern and southeastern coasts are expecting one to three foot waves with a low rip current risk, so if you're heading out there, you've got some pretty manageable conditions. Water temperatures hanging around 61 degrees, so you might want a light wetsuit. No thunderstorms expected, and the tide will be low at 7:37 in the morning, reaching high at 2:01 in the afternoon.

Moving north to the Central Coast, surfers should take note. San Luis Obispo and the Santa Barbara Central Coast beaches are firing with three to six foot waves today. We're seeing a mix of south and west swell pushing through. Now, the water's significantly chillier up there, ranging from 50 to 52 degrees, so bring your winter suit. Expect a low tide at 8:08 in the morning with a high at 2:38 in the afternoon.

Heading back down to Ventura County, we're looking at two to four foot surf with a moderate rip current risk. That means life threatening rip currents are possible, so swimmers and surfers should exercise caution. Water temps are 60 to 62 degrees, and we've got that south swell generating the action today. Low tide comes in at 7:10 a.m., with high tide at 1:27 p.m.

The Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County beaches are also dealing with moderate rip currents and two to four foot waves. Same south swell story here, with water temps between 61 and 64 degrees. It'll be a bit warmer than Ventura. Tide-wise, you're looking at low at 7:05 a.m. and high at 1:22 p.m.

Looking ahead to Monday, conditions remain fairly consistent across the board. Rip current risks stay moderate for Ventura and LA County, while Santa Barbara County keeps their low risk designation. Expect similar two to four foot surf along the southern beaches, and three to six footers up on the Central Coast. The swell will shift slightly, mixing in some northwest and west components as the system moves through.

Throughout both days, there's zero thunderstorm potential, so you won't have to worry about lightning out there. Water temperatures won't change dramatically, so whatever you're wearing today will work just fine tomorrow.

Stay safe out there, keep an eye on those rip currents if you're in the moderate risk zones, and enjoy what looks like a great spring swell weekend. This is your Southern California surf zone forecast.
