God discusses the foolishness of idolatry here, before predicting the name of King Cyrus, who approximately 140 years in the future, would allow Israel to return to Jerusalem. These things were foretold by Isaiah, so that when God's people compared human events to God's prophecy, they would return to the Lord in faith.
