Description
Good morning, this is your surf zone forecast for Friday, April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th, 2026.

Starting with the Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches, we're looking at two to four foot waves today with a moderate rip current risk in effect. Water temps are hovering between 60 and 67 degrees, so you might want that wetsuit handy. We've got a mixed bag of west and south swell moving through, which should keep things interesting. The tides are working in your favor with a low of minus point one feet at 5:49 AM, peaking at 4 feet around noon.

Heading up the coast to Ventura County, conditions are nearly identical with two to four foot surf and that same moderate rip current risk. The water is slightly warmer here, ranging from 63 to 66 degrees, and we're primarily looking at west swell. Low tide comes in at 5:53 AM and highs reach almost 4 feet at midday.

The Santa Barbara County Southwestern and Southeastern Coasts are looking a bit calmer today with one to three foot waves and just a low rip current risk. Water temps are around 64 to 66 degrees, so conditions are pleasant. West swell is responsible for these smaller pulses, and you've got a low tide around 6:15 AM.

Now if you're chasing bigger waves, the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Central Coast Beaches are where the action is. Northwest facing beaches are seeing six to nine foot surf today, while southwest facing beaches are getting three to five feet. That northwest swell is really firing, but fair warning, the water up there is quite a bit chillier at 51 to 53 degrees. You're definitely going to need a good winter suit.

Looking ahead to Saturday, expect very similar conditions across the board. LA County and Ventura County stay consistent with two to four foot waves and moderate rip current risks, though the swell direction shifts to a mix of south and northwest. Santa Barbara's southwestern and southeastern coasts see things ease up to just one to two feet with a low rip current risk. And if you're in San Luis Obispo or the central coast, you're still in for a treat with four to seven foot waves on the menu, courtesy of continued northwest swell.

The big takeaway this weekend is that moderate rip currents are possible along most of LA and Ventura County beaches, so respect the ocean and stay aware of conditions. There's no thunderstorm activity expected anywhere, so at least you've got that going for you. Get out there and enjoy what Mother Ocean is serving up this weekend.
