Daily Devo | Who Is This? This is My Son! (New Testament in a Year, Luke 9:1-36)
Description
Jesus takes his disciples Peter, James, and John up a mountain to pray, where they promptly fall asleep. The awake just in time to see Jesus in his divine glory, along with Moses and Elijah. Peter blurts out a suggestion that seems to put Jesus on the same level as Moses and Elijah but is immediately overshadowed when God's voice declares, “This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him.” As great as Moses and Elijah were, Jesus' identity calls for much more than amazement and admiration — it calls for obedience.

For Reflection:
- What does this transfiguration reveal about who Jesus truly is? What questions does it raise for you?
- Why do you think the disciples struggled to fully understand this moment?
- What does it mean for you personally to “listen to him”? Where might God be calling you to greater attentiveness to Jesus’ voice?
- Prayer: Father, help me see Jesus more clearly and give me a heart that listens and truly follows where he leads.
