Vets warn of toxic Easter treats for pets
Published 3 weeks ago
Description
Chocolate and hot cross buns pose serious toxic risks to pets during Easter celebrations. Dogs cannot metabolise chocolate properly, causing stimulants to build up in their system, while raisins and sultanas in hot cross buns are also highly toxic. Symptoms may not appear for 6-12 hours after ingestion, and pet owners should contact a vet immediately if their animal consumes any amount of these foods rather than waiting for symptoms to develop.
