#22 Emile Jansen (Emile YX?): From Black Noise to Heal the Hood – Streets to Purpose

Season 1 Episode 22 Published 6 months, 2 weeks ago
Description

In this episode of Fortitude & Flow, I sit down with Emile Jansen (Emile YX?) — multi award-winning hip hop pioneer, co-founder of Black Noise, and founder of the Heal the Hood Project.

We explore his journey from apartheid-era South Africa to becoming one of the most influential figures in South African hip hop culture. From music and breakdancing to education and youth empowerment, Emile has dedicated his life to using hip hop as a tool for change.

He is a recipient of the Order of Ikhamanga (Silver), one of South Africa’s highest national honours, awarded by the President of South Africa for his contribution to arts, culture, and society.

A powerful conversation about purpose, identity, creativity, and legacy.
