Description
"The only answer then was Jesus and the only answer now is Jesus." — Pam Olsen In the late 1960s and early 70s, a nation divided by war, protests, and cultural upheaval found its only lasting solution in a move of God known as the Jesus Revolution. Today, Pam Olsen, President of the Florida Prayer Network, believes we are seeing history repeat itself in the best way possible. Speaking with Doug Apple, Olsen recounted the recent "Unite FSU" gathering at the Tallahassee Civic Center. After months of students meeting at 7 a.m. to pray, thousands gathered to hear the Gospel. The result was a scene reminiscent of the early church: 500 students surrendering their lives to Christ, followed by baptisms in the back of pickup trucks. "The only answer then was Jesus, and the only answer now is Jesus," Olsen says. This movement isn't isolated to Florida. The "Unite" events have touched 20 to 25 universities so far, with an estimated 25,000 students making decisions for Christ. It is a stirring reminder that while the news often focuses on chaos, a quiet and powerful reformation is taking place among the younger generation. Olsen’s work extends from the campus to the highest seats of government. Having led prayer at the Florida Capitol for 32 years and worked in Washington, DC, for over three decades, she has seen firsthand the spiritual battle for the soul of the country. She reminds believers that the struggle is not against people or political parties, but is a spiritual war that requires a spiritual response: prayer. This May, two significant events will call the faithful to their knees. The first is the 75th consecutive National Day of Prayer on May 7th. In Tallahassee, this will be preceded by a "Simultaneous Bible Reading" on May 3rd, where 100 people will stand together to read the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation aloud into the atmosphere of the state capital. Furthermore, a historic rededication of the United States is scheduled for May 17th on the National Mall in Washington, DC. As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, Olsen emphasizes that this is not a political rally, but a moment to return to the nation’s foundations. "Our nation was birthed on bended knee," Olsen reminds us. Whether it is a college student in a pickup truck baptism or a national leader seeking wisdom in a private office, the message remains the same: it is time for America to bless God again.
