Calls For Immediate Measures To Allow Sale Of Turf
Published 3 weeks ago
Description
Calls are growing for the Government to allow the sale of turf again, as households across the country continue to struggle with rising energy costs.
Aontú says it’s “unacceptable” that people are left in the cold while turf resources remain restricted, particularly during what it describes as an ongoing energy crisis.
At the same time, environmental concerns remain front and centre, with peatlands playing a crucial role in carbon storage and biodiversity.
To discuss this, Alan Morrissey was joined by Willie Hanrahan from the Clare branch of the Turf Cutters and Contractors Association, and Brian Meaney, former Green Party councillor.
