President Xi Jinping called for mobilizing the whole society to participate in afforestation on Monday, urging sustained efforts to build a beautiful China and contribute to Chinese modernization.

中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平3月30日在参加首都义务植树活动时强调，要组织动员全社会广泛参与植树造林，为山川大地增添锦绣，让中国式现代化的底色更加亮丽。

Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while joining Beijing residents in a voluntary tree-planting activity in the capital's Changping district.
